PEACE RIDE GETS NEW WINGS
PORVORIM: On a beautiful, hot Sunday afternoon, MAY 29, Honda Big Wing riders rolled out of Margao city with Shivam KURTARKAR, Honda Big Wing Sales Manager, flagging off the ” Peace Ride” procession along with the official cars and well-wishers cheering the bikers who were on a journey to promote peace, harmony and hope.
The Peace Ride ended at the Hotel Grand Kadamba, Porvorim, followed by refreshments and entertainment for riders as they rolled in after the ride. DJ Suraj and Brial entertained the riders and guests present on occasion.
The Peace Ride’s objective was to bring together people from many communities and all walks of life, setting an example of how things should be.
Goa Network7 PR & Events, Hotel Grand Kadamba and Honda Big Wing organised the Peace Ride, patterned on the US module of Peace Rides.
The significance of these efforts was to begin a new chapter of “Peace Rides” in the backdrop of war and communal tensions worldwide. “We attempted to repair and build new bridges, connecting people from all walks of life,” said Rajesh D’silva, Founder of Goa Network7 PR & Events.
The Guest of Honour, Dr Anthony Raju, Advocate, Supreme Court of India and a dynamic, dedicated, Internationally accredited HUMAN RIGHTS, PEACE Ambassador & SOCIAL Worker, welcomed the riders. Dr Anthony Raju is one of the globe’s foremost voices of Human Rights.
Dr Anthony Raju has been awarded several National & International Awards for his Excellence work for more than 10 Years in promoting and protecting Human Rights. He has been awarded several Degrees, like a Doctor of Sociology and a Doctorate of Human Rights by International Peace University, Germany, PhD. Social Work by Universal Academy for Global Peace, Lifetime membership and Award by International Journalism Centre, National Human Rights Activist Award by All India Newspaper Association, Ambassador of Peace Award by Blind Association, Peace Ambassador by Global Peace Initiative -the USA.
Dr June Ann, HUMAN RIGHTS, PEACE ACTIVIST & SOCIAL WORKER, endorsed the Peace Ride, urging parents to educate the girl child and promote peace and harmony in their neighbourhoods. Dr June Ann is one of India’s foremost voices of Human Rights for Women and Child Rights and advocates the abolishment of the Death Penalty.
Dr June Ann has been awarded several National & International Awards & Gold Medals for her Excellence work for more than 10 Years in promoting and protecting Human Rights. She has been awarded Honorary Doctorate Degree. The Blind Association and many more have awarded her the Ambassador of Peace Award.
Mr Joshi, an ex-Navy personnel, shared his biking experience, different from today’s jet-set and modern bikes. He was nostalgic about his trips on his motorcycle riding on different terrains during his youth days in the Navy.
Mr Arvind Sharma shared his biking experiences and cross country in America and Canada. His next agenda is to go biking on the high altitude trail of Leh, Ladakh.
The Peace Riders lauded the efforts of the organisers and Honda Big Wing staff and looked forward to upcoming rides in the future.
